The ESF Chairman’s Awards is a celebration of the world-class performance of our graduates. The awards recognize excellence in academics and outstanding achievement in Leadership, Commitment and Contribution to Service, Embodying the Spirit and Values of the School, Sport and Creativity.

Today’s #ESFRapidFireQuestions feature Anoushka Saldanha of Discovery College, who has been awarded the Chairman’s Award for Excellence for attaining 44 points in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma examinations. She is now studying medicine at Trinity College Dublin, The University of Dublin, Ireland.

Q1: How did your ESF education set you up for success?

As an international student exposed to a new and unfamiliar environment, ESF provided me with a set of exceptionally structured academic goals. I discovered a community of highly committed students and staff that enabled my success in the activities I undertook. The guidance provided by ESF throughout my learning has fostered skills that will hold me in good stead for future academic endeavours.

Q2: How did it feel to win the Chairman’s Award?

Being selected to receive the Chairman’s Award was a deeply humbling and gratifying experience. I am fortunate to have been recognised for my efforts in the past two years and feel indebted to my parents and teachers for their support and for constantly inspiring excellence in my work.

Q3: What advice would you give to other ESF students who would look up to someone like you?

I would encourage students to make judicious use of the brilliant resources and assistance provided by the ESF throughout their academic journey. I would recommend that they lean on their school community for guidance during academic hurdles and constantly strive to find a balance between work and extracurricular activities.

We hope you’ve enjoyed reading Anoushka’s story!
